Cold Plunge & Sauna in Austin: How to Choose a Studio
How to choose between Austin's social bathhouses, private contrast suites, recovery studios, and infrared-only studios, with what to confirm about session length, access, and booking.
By PlungeSpots editorial · How we research · Updated
Austin has one of the broadest mixes of sauna and cold plunge formats in our directory: large social bathhouses with garden circuits, private contrast suites, recovery studios built for athletes, and infrared studios without a plunge. Knowing which format you want narrows the list quickly.
This guide groups the Austin venues in our directory by format and lists what to confirm before booking. It is not a ranking. We checked each venue's details against its own website on 9 October 2026; terms change, so confirm them with the operator.

Social bathhouses
BATHE in East Austin is a bathhouse where guests move at their own pace between saunas, steam, cold plunges, and thermal soaking pools in a device-free soaking garden. Single-visit passes, classes, massage, and memberships are offered.
Sauna House North Loop runs an interim indoor-outdoor Sauna Garden with wood-burning saunas and cold pools, built around a 75-minute self-paced Thermal Cycle. Because this is a temporary setup while a permanent building goes up, check the current location details before visiting.
Ceremony Spa on South Lamar has an indoor/outdoor bathhouse with two Finnish-style dry saunas and two cold plunges, alongside massage and body treatments. It accepts walk-ins and same-day bookings.
Kuya Wellness has a 15-person silent sauna, a 25-person social sauna with guided classes, and three cold plunges at different temperatures, alongside float tanks and IV therapy, with day passes and memberships.
Social bathhouses suit people who want to linger and share the space. Ask whether there are quiet zones or guided sessions, and how long a pass lasts.
Private contrast suites
Contrast Collective runs three private suites inside Legacy Padel & Pickleball in East Austin, each with a Finnish dry sauna and a cold plunge, in sessions of 35, 55, or 110 minutes.
Cøntrast ATX in East Austin combines private infrared-and-plunge suites with an outdoor garden that has a wood sauna and two cold plunges, plus a red light room.
SweatHouz Belterra in southwest Austin runs 60-minute private suite sessions with an infrared sauna, cold plunge, and vitamin C shower.
If you care whether the heat is infrared or traditional, check which the suite uses; our traditional versus infrared guide explains the difference. For private sessions, ask whether staff are nearby; our first-visit checklist covers supervision questions.
Recovery studios
ULU Recovery & Wellness in Bouldin Creek has four private sauna and cold plunge rooms, plus red light, compression, and an IV lounge, with drop-ins at member and non-member rates.
Generator Athlete Lab downtown offers private recovery sessions with an infrared sauna, alternating cold and hot tubs, and compression, with day passes, packs, and memberships.
Infrared-only studios
Sweatland on South Lamar and Perspire Sauna Studio in southwest Austin both offer private infrared sessions without a cold plunge; Perspire includes a cold shower. Choose these if you want infrared heat and do not need full cold immersion.
Booking and what to bring
Compare single visits with packs and memberships before committing; our membership or drop-in guide covers recurring billing and notice periods. Social bathhouses often have swimwear rules and lockers, so check what to bring before you go.
Cold water and heat are not suitable for everyone. If you have a health condition or any doubt, speak to a healthcare professional before booking.
